Strand Writing & DesignThe Strand Project Management Database is a web application implemented sing the Django framework, "a high-level Python Web framework that encourages rapid development and clean, pragmatic design".
In the current configuration, the Strand Reference Project Management Database stores all data in a PostgreSQL database, "the world's most advanced open source database". For early development versions, we used SQLite, "a software library that implements a self-contained, serverless, zero-configuration, transactional SQL database engine".
The front-end of this web application makes heavy use of the Bootstrap framework, a "sleek, intuitive, and powerful front-end framework for faster and easier web development" and the bundeled icon set Glyphicons Halflings, "a library of precisely prepared monochromatic icons and symbols, created with an emphasis on simplicity and easy orientation".
For the front-end UI we increasingly use Vue.js, a "progressive JavaScript framework".
The software runs on the Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure using the AWS Elastic Beanstalk product, an "easy-to-use service for deploying and scaling web applications and services". This Platform-as-a-Service offering enables us to benefit from integrated features like continuous deployment and auto-scaling.
